This is one of the easiest memory books to make. And both you and your child will adore it for years to come.

When my 12 year old son was two, I trailed him for a day with my camera. I took pictures of his every activity, and all items familiar and beloved. By bedtime I had snapped dozens of photos, from the washing machine to his wooden train. I inserted the pictures into a chunky 4” x 6” album, and it chronicled a typical day in his life.

But what was once a whimsical book for my toddler is now an image-filled time capsule of land-line phones, boxy TVs, and cars from the Nineties. Long gone are the little scuffed shoes, the child-size toothbrush, and the fire truck p.j.’s. All that remains from the day are these photos and the sweet memories they evoke.

Would you like to freeze the fleeting visuals of your child? A memory book like this will take you about an hour to assemble because you don’t even need text. Here are a few photo ideas to get you started.

 * Daily activities such as: waking up in bed; changing into play clothes; eating meals; nestling in their car seat; engaging with friends and family; playing with toys; taking a nap; splashing in the tub; bundling up in a towel; brushing their teeth; reading a book; getting their good-night kiss.

 * Close-ups of: special stuffed animals; comb and/or brush; socks and shoes; jacket; highchair, bib, meal(s); your car or other mode of transport; pets; mailbox; stroller; outdoor riding toys like a wagon; appliances or furniture like the sofa you cuddle in; favorite toys; parent’s purse and/or briefcase; keys; computer; cell phone; the TV with a favorite show on the screen; toothbrush, toothpaste and cup; their book shelf.

 * Scenes such as: outside of your home; rooms in your house including their toy area; places you frequent with them like the playground, grocery, gas station, a friend’s house.

And don’t forget – tip toe back in the bedroom after your child drifts to sleep and preserve the image of your slumbering angel.
